Newborn photography training

So how does one become a newborn photographer ?

Firstly it helps to have experience with newborns, and also excellent camera skills, but there is a quite a knack to creating those beautiful curled up newborn images.

My first insight into newborn photography was through online tutorials / videos which explained safety and posing. I then did a few group workshops, where I watched a photographer do a newborn session and explain to a group how to pose the baby, the best way to wrap and also share their editing techniques. While both these types of training helped me at the start of my journey, to really get where I wanted to be I knew I needed some 1-2-1 training.

Why do 1-2-1 training ? Well, there is only so much you can learn watching in a group session. The real lessons come when you are doing the poses and taking the photos yourself and having a trainer correcting you realtime & offering advice on things like the best angles to take the photos etc.

I was fortunate enough to have a 2 day intensive 1-2-1 training with one of the UKs leading newborn photographers & newborn photographer trainers, Maddy Rogers. Maddy has been in the newborn photography business for over 10 years, and the quality of her work really shows her experience! Not only that, she also co-founded BANPAS ( The Baby and Newborn Photography Association )

If you are interested in this type of training I highly recommend you check out Maddy – she’s training photographers from all around the world! You can find information on here 1-2-1 training > HERE <
