Photography workshops Australia 2020

As a photographer, not only is it very important to be working on improving the quality of the images you provide to clients, it is also extremely fulfilling to grow in your profession & improve your skills. A great way to do this is to invest your time & money into photography training with industry leaders. I myself set away a certain proportion of my business income each year to ensure I can attend at least two professional development courses. I’m always striving to be the best maternity, newborn & family photographer in the Sunshine Coast. Below are some workshops I would love to attend this year. I hope they give you some inspiration for your own business.

Cathy Britton- Sunflower field photography & editing workshp

I’m sure everyone has seen those amazing professional portraits taken in flower fields. Here is your chance to create your own magical flower field photos. Perth photographer Cathy Britton will be running a training session in the sunflowers field. There is an add on editing session to help you bring out the best in your photographers.

But Natural Photography ( Sujata Setia ) – Outdoor Natural Light Workshops

Sujata ( UK based ) is returning for three Australian outdoor workshops in Perth, Melbourne & Sydney. Sujata is renowned for her rich & glowing story telling images. I’m a huge fan of hers having both trained with her & having my own maternity images taken by her in Wales. Sujata predominately does family, newborn & maternity photography.

Ana Brandt – Baby Clinic, hand on training clinics for wrapping, safety, posing and lighting

Ana ( California based ) is one of most well known newborn & maternity photographers in the world. As well has having a very successful photography business she also sells a range of maternity gowns. I modelled for one of her maternity workshops in the UK & it was quite an interesting experience practising maternity posing in front of the lens!

Bumps to Babies ( Tamara Musa ) – Newborn photography masterclasses

Bumps to Babies newborn photography studio is located in Gregory Hills, Sydney. She uses minimal props in her work & focuses on perfect posing & lighting. Not only does she teach photography, but also how to run a profitable newborn photography business.

Her 2 night, 3 day family photography workshops in Bryon Bay and Little Swanport Tasmania will help you enhance your creative process, adding more meaning & emotion to your photography. If you are looking for unposed and authentic moments then this is the workshop for you!

Winni & Mini

Every time Tanha Basile’s photos pop up on my FB or Instagram feed I just stop scrolling. She’s got a real talent for capturing warm, enduring mum & newborn portraits that just make you go “awwwww”. While she doesn’t have any workshops posted for 2020 she does offer 1-2-1 photographer mentoring.

I would love to do some more pet photography training. I’ve previously trained with Alice Loder who is one of the best dog photographers in the UK. Hopefully one day she will do a workshop in Australia! My photography collegue, Lisa, a newborn photographer in East Grinstead is also a big advocate for training. Check out her article, ‘Pouts and Paws – Photography for newborns and their pets”. The photos are adorable.
